Access to the homestead is from an unassuming country lane. Entering “Villa Donini” you are immediately attracted to the award winning garden, with extensive use of natural sandstone, water features, courtyards, raised garden and herb beds, manicured hedges and paved tree lined drive with Avenue feel.
A relaxed, semi-formal “Italianate” style was adopted to complement the architecture of the house and separate garage.
Hedges and masonry walls define paths and focal points, with surfaces of sawn sandstone and lawns.
The entry court provides views for the kitchen, as well as being a “break-out” area for the indoor pool, while the rear court provides outdoor dining under the arched steel pergola, with herbs readily to hand under the Olive trees in the adjacent raised planters.
The grounds were awarded the 2009 Australian Landscape Construction of the Year”
